PROJECT 1 : MATERIALS MEME

PHASE 2

The exploration of materials from selected brands were based
on a basic construction material; concrete.
Because there is a vague image as to what physical material can be
derived from the three brands, most of which products are either symbolic
or digital. I therefore chose to work on a symbolical material of construction.
-
The language of this experiment is to use the general concepts from each
other company as a subject to which manipulates the selected material, represented
by red dot, it shows the idea of integration and combining elements to add
additional properties to the original, resulting in something more specialized.
-

The resulting materials with their additional special properties
may have a potential to be used in future cases where a specific material
property is preferred in different situations. a vast array of variations to concrete
may be created to accumulate different and more types preferences to which
is used for different purposes and serves a unique function.

PITTAYA THAMMA : PROLIFERATE

PROLIFERATE : CONTEMPORARY BUSINESS FUTURES
Phase 3

Virtual reality and augmented reality is transforming the way we learn, interact, and understand the world around us.

A Virtual Coworking Space: Program
Full Resolution
The brand plate demonstrates how the 3 selected brands come together as a virtual coworking space. Each brand is given a representation according to the studies done in Phase 1 and Phase 2: Osterhout Design Group (smartglass), Open Whisper Systems (private office), Reddit (collaborative space).
The program is a coworking space, which offers a cutting-edge augmented reality smartglass in addition to a shared working environment for remote workers, freelancers and budding small businesses. At this coworking space, the space inside is a blank canvas waiting to be filled. Because each person has a different preference, members will be able to customize their own space, through the use of smartglasses, to improve workflow and boost productivity. The smartglass may also assist the user with work, provide news and announcements, navigate the place, and generate virtual barriers to protect privacy.

San Francisco, California: Site
Full Resolution
The area within 500 meters radius of the headquarters of the 3 brands is analyzed to scout a possible location for the project.

Full Resolution
The amenities inside the radius of the headquarter are located to find a site with a high level of proximity to amenities and businesses, including coffee shops, shopping, restaurants, bars, hotels, and gyms.

Full Resolution
The final decision for the site is located at the Market Street and Ellis Street intersection.
The goal is to maximize space usage while also providing ample common space, meeting rooms, and natural light. The building has a central courtyard, which allows light to penetrates the inner area. Some section of each floor extends over the sidewalk to create rooms with a better view of the intersection. They also act as shading devices. The building has an electrochromic glass façade that allows the user to control the amount of heat or light that passes through the glass at the flick of a switch. When the glass turns opaque, the extended parts of facade becomes a projection screen for commercial purposes, like signs.

Plan

1st Floor Plan features a reception, a promotional space, a coffee shop, and a hot desking area.

Project 1.2
EVOLVE : MATERIAL MEMES~ Will Bhuvarin Thaveetermsakul ~
Aj. Thomas Lozada
Link to full resolution'This phase is about using the identities from those selected companies in the previous phase to choose
the right material that contains the connection and presenting the brand all together then
create the component out of that material.'

 (1)                               (2)

'My first material represent the Nintendo company and it is PLASTIC from Plastimake, it is POLYCAPROLACTONE

which is biodegradable polyester with low melting point. This material contains the ability to change state and form
due to the temperature by simply drop it in a glass of Hot water, It will becomes transparent, soft and sticky which
allow you to change it shape and when you satisfy with the result just simply drop it into a glass of Cold water to cure
the shape of it. By using this same process it has becomes unlimited reusable. It is also non-toxic, completely clean and
absolutely durable while in the cured form. Normally use in Model making, small ornaments and household goods.'

'My component out of this material is what I called, Plastichair. This chair is targeting those gamers who normally
sit in front of their computer for quite a long time. Normal problems are those well-known chairs even with the
well designed one still contains these gaps and bulge from the fact that they only contain the similar shape to the user
so, because it is not completely the same shape these problems causing other problems like uncomfortable feeling, shorten
the amount of time playing games or using computer. So, my designed component by using plastimake as main material
it will get rid of these problem easily due to the ability to change it's shape, we can mold the shape to the user's
simple and quick, later benefit as longer time of usage.'

(3)                               (4)

'As from previous phase we know that OSMO is the company about merging Physical and Digital together and also about Education,
How they represent their idea is through their small size products, so my idea of component is to recreate this whole element but in
a larger scale! Osmo main target are small kids and so, they have worked with over 4,000 schools. As that being introduced with a
larger scale product we can teach kids about the true scale by comparing things from the digital to physical easier and also due to
the feature we can also teach kids about physical shape and form, also as if this is a room the activity can also teach kids about teamwork
as Wall size monitor represent digital, kids wearing this Smartsuit will represent the physical. What Smartsuit do is actually track
the wearer motions and connect then work with the monitor interface.'

'The Smartsuit is made out of Fibre Optic-Textile which comes from Fibre Optic-Thread that made out of Silicon glass through the
special process called Modified Chemical Vapor Deposition. The properties of this material are being the transmission medium,
Bendability and high durability,, Normally used as decoration, information transmission wire, used to create an abstract clothe and
used to create several special effect including light.'

'Lastly, My context is the space which situate an ongoing event as kind of like an Expo where different unique technologies and
idea being introduce to the world or king of like a knowledge sharing space composed of those components from the previous plates.'

EVOLVE: MATERIAL MEMES

Phrase 2: Material experiment and component

D I R E C T I N G   P A T H

As a video platform, Youtube is like a window for people to see the world. But, though its algorithm, Youtube filters and choose which content you will find.

Youtube algorithm direct video base on what it thinks the viewer like the most, or in another word, the one that has been watched the most. This experiment simulates this by looking at the path that the marble went to and make it more preferable in the next round.

L I G H T   F I L T E R S

From an experiment that directs a path to a filter that directs light.
The component is a translation of the out-put of the experiment, from the thickness of the layers to the translucency of the filter.

RADIOTOPIA

V I S U A L I Z I N G    S O U N D

Sound is the heart of radiotopia. Sound isn't a physical material, but it does manipulate the space around it. Radiotopia's sound is a sound that transport your mind from your real space to an imaginary one. So, this experiment seeks to bring that imaginary space into reality.

This experiment explores the possibility of form and space that is created by sound. By tuning the speaker to different sound and frequency, it vibrates the non-newtoneanflued into many shapes. This then got translated into 3d geometry via grasshopper.

S O U N D   S P A C E

Listening to a sound that creates an imaginary space in a physical space that is created by a sound.

This component is an inverse of the form that is the out- put from the experiment. This, then become a shape that defines a space.
