PHASE-3 Vich Vichyastit

Phase 3 - Vich Vichyastit
Project 1.3

Proliferate : Contemporary Business Futures

Merging my 3 candidates; TED, Provenance and Sonnen leads to the concept of transmition of information in single space.
Highlighting TED as the main influence of the new brand, I've decided to design a business incubator/ accelerator for start up companies. As TED is an organization considered as an idea generator the new company is to make those ideas come true and also solving the issue of decreasing face-to-face action of meetings, TED sees the opportunity to restart these meetings in physical space.

The new site is based on TED's original headquarters in Manhattan, New York (330 Hudson St) which around the corner on Charlton St is left with some empty spaces which is where my proposal building will be located.

From Phase 2 my material was copper which is the main material I focus on using in this phase as well. Copper material was chosen to use as the facade for external interaction and  partitions as the internal to define and separate the spaces.

Some of the perspective of the main spaces are shown. Entering the building having doubled-space floors for the lobby allows interaction of the people entering and the space users. Also the negative conference space which is a different space from the ground floor but still allows the people to interact and see the conferences of the stage. The main stairs on the second floor is the main circulation of the building which would be where people would be interacting with the space the most which is why I chose to add sitting parts to the large stairs in order for the people walking up/down the staurs to be able to interact with the people who are sitting.

Proliferate : Contemporary business futures

This phase is meant for us to combine the research from phase one and two, from the chosen brands and materials and develop them to create a new business brand.

In this phase I chose to research back to my material in the phase two as a starting point, So as I researched more, I found out some interesting facts about the material himalayan pink salt and so on I chose to develop the business from salt.

The diagram showing the research : Himalayan pink salt  the salt is known for air purifying, able to clear inner bodies and have other medical properties that can collect the dust in the air. The salt  can be found 90 percent in Pakistan. But in contrast Pakistan is the number one air polluted country in the world.

So from that my business will take place in Pakistan as a non profit organisation that the goal is to raise awareness of people in Pakistan to start concerning about their air quality.

And so the Idea is creating a Temporary Structure from salt as a gallery that will exhibit the work or pictures concerning about Pakistan and their problems that they are facing nowadays. Allowing people to come inside and see the exhibition on the interior but in the same time the structure itself is also a massage that will send to the people too ,as the salt will collect dust in the air and will dissolve when exposed in the air people will experience the smaller and darker exhibition as the time passes.

Sites : Pakistan - the program is meant to decay and eventually in the end all the structure gone while exposed to environment and then the program will start again some where else in Pakistan allowing other cities to experience the gallery.

Salt gallery

starting of the program

After time has passed the salt will dissolve and the structure will start to get ruin and the shades of salt will get darker as the air is polluted.

Defining new brand from three selected brands by study relationship and outcomes

DEFINING NEW BRAND

By taking out all identities from each brand here are the main focus of the brand,
rasing awareness, sharing space, exchanging professions and convenience
To lower the scale of the user, defining a specific group of people under the same circumstance take out brand identity the most.

 BLINDS COMMUNITY

The blinds community is focusing on giving career to blinds my teaching them how to make a tactile pavement that is used within the building and also selling for the blinds which all the progress of making is reveal to the public through the design of the building

The buildnig is on the Lincoln center, New York, which it shared the space with Trully hall, where 99U set up their conference every month, so it will help to promote the brand.

COMPONENTS MAKING
for full resolution

Tacttile pavement is the combination between materail chosen with the brand identity. With sand mixing with starch and glue it will get harden and be able to create pattern on them. The pattern that will be use inside the building compose of standard pattern and the specific pattern the speacially design for the building to help the blind remember the layout of the building easily

 BUILDING DESIGN

For program planning, Each room is arranging in one way circulation, the room is arrange as follow,
reception > classroom > making room > baking room > finishing room > storage > shop.
Each room is elevated up 1 meter to with ramp to helping blind define space easier along with placing specic pavement along the floor,
Moreover, by studying site context and surrounded building, the direction of the sun also become one factor for facade designing. The frequency of arranging or the wall is depend on the sunlight which those pattern facade help blind to circulate around the building easier.

Phase 3

Virtual reality and augmented reality is transforming the way we learn, interact, and understand the world around us.

A Virtual Coworking Space: Program
Full Resolution
The brand plate demonstrates how the 3 selected brands come together as a virtual coworking space. Each brand is given a representation according to the studies done in Phase 1 and Phase 2: Osterhout Design Group (smartglass), Open Whisper Systems (private office), Reddit (collaborative space).
The program is a coworking space, which offers a cutting-edge augmented reality smartglass in addition to a shared working environment for remote workers, freelancers and budding small businesses. At this coworking space, the space inside is a blank canvas waiting to be filled. Because each person has a different preference, members will be able to customize their own space, through the use of smartglasses, to improve workflow and boost productivity. The smartglass may also assist the user with work, provide news and announcements, navigate the place, and generate virtual barriers to protect privacy.

San Francisco, California: Site
Full Resolution
The area within 500 meters radius of the headquarters of the 3 brands is analyzed to scout a possible location for the project.

Full Resolution
The amenities inside the radius of the headquarter are located to find a site with a high level of proximity to amenities and businesses, including coffee shops, shopping, restaurants, bars, hotels, and gyms.

Full Resolution
The final decision for the site is located at the Market Street and Ellis Street intersection.
The goal is to maximize space usage while also providing ample common space, meeting rooms, and natural light. The building has a central courtyard, which allows light to penetrates the inner area. Some section of each floor extends over the sidewalk to create rooms with a better view of the intersection. They also act as shading devices. The building has an electrochromic glass façade that allows the user to control the amount of heat or light that passes through the glass at the flick of a switch. When the glass turns opaque, the extended parts of facade becomes a projection screen for commercial purposes, like signs.
