Project 1.2 - Vich Vichyastit

Project 1 phase 2 - Evolve

Vich Vichyastit

Thomas Lozada

In this phase we are assigned to select materials relating to the concepts we extracted from our candidates in the previous phase. First, selecting materials that have potential in our approach. Next, researching the properties and characters of the chosen materials and then find a situation where the material can be activated and used spatially/architecturally.
The term most powerful term I extracted from the previous phase is "Decentralisation", which is used as a starting point of the new phase. The proposal idea is to create a peer-to-peer system of exchange in terms of energy.

Material 1 - Sphelar

An advanced solar-cell in a shape of a micro sphere allowing it to capture energy omni-directionally. The micro size of it allows it to be out in a module according to the usage.

Material 2 - Copper

Copper is the best material use for conducting energy whether electrical or thermal. It also has the property of being able to be bent into strong/firm shapes of geometry. It is used for both conducting energy and distort into different geometries.

System/ Combination of Components

Showing how the system of combination works. The solar cell captures energy from the sun and then converted into electrical energy which is transferred through the copper, creating an electromagnetic field which is used to charge devices wirelessly.

The design is an object used for charging electrical devices created from the combination of materials which the different forms can be used in different situations depending on usage. For example, if this material is used in a private place which requires some decorative element, this material could be made into furniture to both serve the function of charging and at the same time it can be used as a decorative object. Or in a more public use which requires less decorative approach, it can be made as just a wall surface which only allows people to walk up to it in order to interact.

Context plate

The context plate represents examples on how the object can be used in 2 different scenarios. First, in a more public approach, it could be placed on the skytrain which is where the exchange of people would occur the most. It can be placed in a place where people walk pass the most for people to to come and interact with the object resulting in phone charging.
Second, in a more private situation whether co-working spaces, cafes or residential. It has more of a design aspects to it, in this case furniture. It can be used to sit on while charging your devices wirelessly.
