As a company that promotes design concepts,
The science of design is studied as a basis for the
selection of a base material, one that is not often manipulated,
and that has served quite a narrow range of purpose if not singular.
A reachable material to experiment with,
Concrete, was chosen.
Work & Company is known for their system of operation
and cooperation, in with one party communicates with another
party on the same level. In this case communication
between two sides of the material is created through a limited
amount of vision to the other side. That is, translucency.

Translucent concrete only displays part of what is
behind it, therefore may be applied on particular
spaces that use the property to display a certain
message, in this case, to indicate whether a defined
space is occupied, without showing further details.

As a company that promotes design concepts,
The science of design is studied as a basis for the

In the search for unconventional uses for the material concrete,
other candidates were used the subject to come up with distinctive
properties as an approach for each experiment.
- RED DOT x ZIPLINE -
Zipline international inc. uses their own engineered drones
for their specif use. In this case, the property of
buoyancy and flexibility is the main approach.
The solution of using Styrofoam as an aggregate
for the cement mixture is generates the intended
properties.
Therefore, as a lightweight material that does not
require gaps or complex methods of construction to
counter the thermal expansion, the material is easily
formed and transported, as in this case a playground
has all their equipment built by Styrofoam concrete.

With the variety of properties available in the basic construction
material we can imagine external components being replaced by
using a different mixture of the same material, therefore potentially
the procedure of construction may be simplified.
